About the Event
Whether you are currently considering retirement, are newly retired, or have been retired for many moons, we can all benefit from examining the wide-ranging effects of this profound change in the rhythm of our lives. Join us as we uncover tools for identifying our personal goals and values, and for fulfilling living lives beyond our past roles. We’ll explore ways to prioritize and balance productive and purpose-driven activities with the well-deserved rest and relaxation that we’ve long fantasized about. Through humor, lecture, and discussion, we’ll end the year discovering how to pursue the best retirement ever.
Karen Waldman, PhD, is a licensed psychologist in Texas. She completed her clinical internship at UT Medical School in Houston, then a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in Geriatric Psychology at the VA Medical Center in Houston. She spent almost 20 years at the VA before retiring and going into part-time private practice. She and her husband are co-authoring a book called Self Help for Couples: A Simple and Effective Guide. She also enjoys writing short stories (several of which are in Chicken Soup for the Soul books), acting in community theater, doing volunteer work, traveling with her husband, and spending time with friends and family – especially with “the kids” and 10.5 grandkids.
